Breed history: The Nantes is an extremely rare breed originating in France, now under threat of extinction. This cattle belongs to the so-called "red" branch, which is part of the more extensive brown line of French breeds. The ancestor of this cow is considered to be the Parthenay breed, making it a special variety of cattery, unique to Brittany.
