Adaptar Belmont
History of the breed. The Adaptalur Belmont breed was created as a result of crossing Shorthorns and Herefords in Australia. The breed was developed at the Belmont Research Station near Rockhampton, Queensland. The selection primarily focused on cattle that exhibited increased resistance and endurance to tropical heat and ticks. In the northern regions of Australia, cattle raised in tropical conditions face a number of challenges. Among them are parasitic infections, a hot climate, and seasonal changes in diet. The genome of Adaptalur Belmont contains an element that guarantees exceptional resistance to ticks in cattle. The Australian Hereford Society promotes the spread of this gene by using embryo transfer methods. Exterior. Adaptalur Belmont individuals are medium-sized, with short hair and a dark coat, and may have white spots on the belly and head. The coat is of excellent quality, showing resistance to both internal and external pests. Adaptalur Belmont are polled animals, with a strong neck, a large withers, and short, sturdy legs. Males are larger than females, with an average weight of bulls being 700-800 kg and cows 600-700 kg. Housing conditions. Adaptalur Belmont adapt well to the local climate. They do not require special housing conditions, can withstand high temperatures for extended periods, and are very resistant to external and internal parasites.
