Belmont Red — beli atau jual
Breed history: Belmont Red is an Australian breed of beef (cattle) developed to thrive in tropical climates and enhance meat production efficiency. In 1954, there was a need for a new breed in the tropical regions of the country that possessed several important qualities. It was required to have a calm temperament, high fertility, and the ability to efficiently utilize local pastures. The development of the new breed was undertaken by CSIRO — the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation of Australia. The work was conducted at the Belmont research station near Rockhampton, Queensland. To create Belmont Red, several European cattle breeds were crossed: Afrikaner (50%), Hereford (25%), and Shorthorn (25%). The breeding of the new breed began in 1956. The first Belmont Red bulls were released for sale in 1968. By 1976, the first export shipments to Indonesia were made. Today, Belmont Red is a successful beef breed that is widely distributed in Australia and other countries with tropical climates. It is valued for its hardiness, adaptability, and high meat quality. Exterior: Belmont Red is a medium-sized breed of cows characterized by a strong build. They are well-structured and possess all the necessary characteristics for meat production. The coat of Belmont Red is smooth and short, predominantly red in color. Various shades of red are found, sometimes with white markings. This coloration makes them easily visible in pastures. The weight of adult Belmont Red bulls reaches 800-900 kg. Cows weigh slightly less — 500-700 kg. The breed is polled. The average height at the withers for cows is 121 cm, and for bulls, it is 135 cm. Housing conditions: Belmont Red is a breed that can adapt to different climatic conditions. It feels equally comfortable in both hot tropical climates and more temperate zones. This makes it versatile and allows it to be raised in various regions. Belmont Red is distinguished by its hardiness and heat resistance. This is an important quality for a breed raised in the tropical regions of Australia. They are also resistant to ticks and insects that can carry various diseases. Large commercial farms of the Belmont Red breed successfully operate on natural pastures in both the Northern Territory and Queensland. This indicates that the breed can effectively utilize natural resources and does not require special housing conditions.

Diet: Belmont Red is not particularly picky about nutrition. The basis of its diet is, of course, grass from pastures. Interestingly, if Belmont Red and Hereford are fed on the same poor pasture, the weight gain of the former will be 17-23 kg more than that of the latter. The metabolism of the Belmont Red cow depends on its diet – the poorer the diet, the slower the metabolism, which actually helps the cow not to lose (or to lose less) weight. Conversely, the more food the Belmont Red cow has, the higher its metabolism, so with good feeding, it will gain weight faster. Since Belmont Red is a beef breed of cattle, they will require more grain in their diet than greens. It is also worth considering the possibility of feeding them silage, especially in the dry season. Belmont Red cattle also need a large amount of clean and fresh drinking water, just like many other breeds of livestock. Therefore, it is always important to provide the animals with an adequate supply of clean and fresh drinking water according to their needs and never to give them contaminated water or infected feed.
