Welsh Black Cow — beli atau jual
Breed history: The Welsh Black cow is one of the oldest breeds of cattle developed in Great Britain. Its history dates back to pre-Roman times, and for centuries this breed has been an important part of agriculture in Wales. Valued for its characteristics of endurance and adaptability to harsh environmental conditions, the Welsh Black cow was in high demand in mountainous regions where the local population faced severe conditions. The origin of the Welsh Black breed is not definitively established, but historians and experts believe that its ancestors grazed in Wales even before the arrival of Roman legions in Britain. Until the 18th century, there were two main types of Welsh Black cows adapted to different conditions. In mountainous areas, compact, muscular animals resistant to harsh climates were bred. In the more low-lying, fertile lands of southern Wales, a large dairy type known as Castle Martin was kept. In the 19th century, these two types began to be crossed to create a single breed that combined both meat and dairy qualities. The formal development of the breed began in 1874 with the establishment of the Welsh Black Cattle Breeding Society and the publication of the first volume of the herd book. Until 1904, each type had its own herd book, but then breeders decided to combine efforts. This allowed for the creation of a single, more versatile line of the Welsh Black breed suitable for both hill and plain conditions in Wales. In the 20th century, the breeding focus shifted towards meat production, which increased the breed's demand for high-quality meat. Today, the Welsh Black is recognized as one of the breeds at risk of extinction in Wales. Exterior: The appearance of the Welsh Black cow reflects its natural qualities and endurance. The animal is large and robust. The weight of cows typically ranges from 600 to 800 kg, while bulls reach 950-1150 kg, and some individuals can weigh up to 1391 kg. The height at the withers is 120-140 cm. The color of the Welsh Black varies from dark rust to coal-black, with possible small white spots on the lower part of the body. Occasionally, red-colored individuals are found, which is due to a recessive inherited gene. Most Welsh Black cows have horns, white at the base with black tips, but there are also completely polled lines.

Diet: The nutrition of the Welsh Black cow primarily consists of grass pastures and hay. During the winter period, the diet should be supplemented with silage and mineral additives. During pregnancy, it is recommended to include concentrates and vitamin supplements in the feed, which contributes to the normal development of the fetus and the maintenance of the cow's health. Calves are fed maternal milk until weaning, after which they are transitioned to plant-based feeds.
