Bushuevskaya cow — መግዛት ወይም መሸጥ
History of the breed: The Bushuev cow is a dairy breed developed in Uzbekistan. It is characterized by high adaptation to hot climates, resistance to blood-parasitic diseases, and good milk productivity. The Bushuev cow is a breed that emerged as a result of careful breeding work conducted in the early 20th century in the harsh conditions of the Hungry Steppe. This territory, with its sharp continental climate, intense solar radiation, atmospheric pressure fluctuations, and widespread occurrence of piroplasmosis, required the creation of a special breed capable of adapting to such extreme conditions. The founder of the breed is considered to be Mikhail Mikhailovich Bushuev, who headed the Hungry Steppe Experimental Station from 1905 to 1918. He began crossing local zebu-like cattle with bulls of Holstein, Swiss, and Simmental breeds. The best representatives of the resulting hybrids were bred "in themselves," meaning they were crossed among themselves to consolidate the desired traits. From 1932 to 1948, to increase the milk yield of cows on breeding farms, crossing with bulls of the East Frisian breed was conducted. However, this was done under conditions of limited feeding, which negatively affected the development of the Bushuev breed. The population of breeding cattle sharply decreased, milk yields and live weight did not increase, and the fat content in milk decreased. In 1948, crossing with the East Frisian breed was discontinued, and since then, the Bushuev breed has been bred "in itself." Since 1953, the improvement of the breed has been handled by the Uzbek Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry. The breed was officially registered in 1967. Exterior: The color of Bushuev cows is called ermine. It is white fur with black speckles on the skin, black ears, black "glasses" around the eyes, and a black stripe around the nose. This coloration is not only attractive but also has practical significance: it helps cows better reflect sunlight and avoid overheating. Bushuev cows have a strong constitution and harmonious build. They have an average live weight, deep chest, strong skeleton, and developed musculature, although some specialists note weak muscle development as a drawback. Their udder is well developed, which is important for a dairy breed. The average weight of adult cows is 380-450 kg, while breeding cows weigh 450-500 kg. The height at the withers is 122 cm. The depth of the chest is 65.1 cm, the diagonal length of the body is 147.3 cm, the chest circumference is 177.5 cm, and the pastern circumference is 17.0 cm.

Diet: The Bushuev cow is characterized by its hardiness and ability to efficiently utilize various feed resources. It can be satisfied with what grows in its natural habitat and does not require special feeds and supplements. The basis of the diet of Bushuev cows consists of pasture grasses. They eagerly consume a variety of vegetation, including desert sedge, viviparous fescue, and various types of saltwort, such as bolykuz and azherek. These plants provide their bodies with essential nutrients and vitamins. The diet of Bushuev cows may also include reeds, bulrush, willow, and tamarisk. These plants grow in the valley of the Syr Darya River and serve as an additional source of nutrition for the cows during the period when the grass in the pastures dries up.
