Bukovinian factory type of red-spotted Ukrainian cow — መግዛት ወይም መሸጥ

Breed history: The Ukrainian Red Spotted cow has different subtypes, one of which is the Bukovinian factory cow. Its origin begins in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine. It belongs to the intrabreed type of the Carpathians. The breeding of this cow involved a method of complex reproductive crossing of four breeds: Simmental, Montbeliarde, Red Spotted German, and Holstein (red-spotted color). The resulting four-breed hybrids were bred "within themselves" or crossed with bulls of the central intrabreed type of the Ukrainian Red Spotted dairy breed. This approach allowed for the creation of a breed that combines the best qualities of its ancestors. The Bukovinian factory has inherited high milk productivity from the Holstein breed, a strong constitution and adaptability to mountainous conditions from the Simmental, as well as good meat qualities from the Montbeliarde and Red Spotted German breeds. Exterior: Individuals of the Bukovinian factory type are characterized by a dairy body structure. The udder of the cows is cup-shaped with medium-sized teats. The meat yield is 63%. The weight of bulls ranges from 800 to 950 kg. Cows weigh from 450 to 530 kg. The udder index reaches 49%. The milk flow rate is from 1.86 to 2.0 kg per minute. The height at the withers is similar to that of the maternal breed – 135 cm for cows and 143 cm for bulls. Housing conditions: Special conditions for the Bukovinian factory cow are not necessary – they are kept just like regular cattle. To maintain this subtype of the Ukrainian Red Spotted cow, it is sufficient to follow standard rules: individual stalls, a place for feeding, separate housing for sick and pregnant cows, regular cleaning and periodic disinfection, as well as regular feeding at the same time (the latter is important!). Special equipment for the premises is not required. Productivity direction: Although the Bukovinian factory cow from the Ukrainian Red Spotted breed is dairy, it also has good meat qualities. The meat yield is 63%. The genetic potential for milk productivity in the Bukovinian Red Spotted is high – it can produce 6000-7000 kg of milk with a fat content of 3.8-3.9%.
